Antibiotics for Bacterial Vaginosis

First choice treatment is Metronidazole and second choice treatment is Clindamycin.

Metronidazole (Flagyl®)
Clindamycin (Dalacin C®)

Bacterial Vaginosis is an overgrowth of genital tract bacteria and a lack of lactobacilli. Although bacterial vaginosis is not usually categorized as a sexually transmitted infection, it is commonly included as part of the list of sexually transmitted infections. Treatment is not recommended if asymptomatic unless a pregnancy is at high risk of pre-term birth, or if there is any scheduled surgery such as a D & C or therapeutic abortion. Routine screening for BV at the time of IUD insertion if asymptomatic is not well supported by evidence.
